The Green Bay Packers clinched a spot in the NFL Playoffs for the second consecutive season with their 34-0 win over the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. With the Packers’ safety room shorthanded due to injury, Zayne Anderson saw a great deal more playing time on defense, which resulted in his first career interception.
Jayden Reed, with his 78 all-purpose yards, eclipsed 900 yards for the season, making him the first player in franchise history to have 900+ all-purpose yards in each of his first two seasons.
As has been the case all season, though, running back Josh Jacobs and the run game were the focal point of Green Bay’s offense. Nine different players recorded a rushing attempt, the most ball carriers the Packers have used in a game since 1953.
Green Bay Packers Running Back Josh Jacobs Could Tie a Franchise Record Held by Paul Hornung Next Week vs the Minnesota Vikings
With Green Bay leading by three scores at half-time, head coach Matt LaFleur made the decision to shut down Jacobs for the remainder of the game. That was after the Packers star running back rushed 13 times for 69 yards and a touchdown. He also had four receptions on four targets for 38 more yards.
Jacobs’ rushing touchdown against the Saints gave him six consecutive games with a touchdown run. That is just one shy of the Packers’ franchise record for most consecutive games with a rushing touchdown. Paul Hornung did it in seven straight games in 1960:

For the season, Jacobs has 1,216 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. He also has added 340 receiving yards and his first career touchdown reception.
Notably, his 1,216 rushing yards are the second-most in his career, behind only the 1,653 yards he had in 2022 when he led the NFL in rushing. His 13 rushing touchdowns are already a career-high.
