The Green Bay Packers are in the early days of training camp, preparing for a 2025 NFL season that, they hope, will see them take a step forward as a team. In each of the past two seasons, the team has finished as the seventh seed in the NFC, the final spot in the NFL Playoffs available for postseason-bound teams. They finished 9-8 in 2023 and 11-6 last season.
Of course, each of these seasons saw quarterback Jordan Love lead the team to the NFL Playoffs after sitting behind Aaron Rodgers for three years. As many will recall, the decision to move on from Rodgers to Love was a controversial one that was not met with much fanfare initially.
But, despite the doubters, Love has put up numbers very similar to those of his two predecessors:

And now, as he enters his third season as Green Bay’s starter, Love is hopeful that he can do something else that each of his predecessor did.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Says the Primary Goal Is to Win the Super Bowl
That goal, of course, is winning the Super Bowl and bringing the Lombardi Trophy back home to the Packers organization.
During an interview with NFL Network during training camp last week, Love revealed that winning the Super Bowl is Green Bay’s primary objective:

“We’re trying to win a Super Bowl. Another goal is to take the NFC North.”

As one can see in the post above, Love says that the Packers’ main goal this year is to win the Super Bowl. He adds, though, that winning the NFC North is another goal.
Green Bay has not won the NFC North since the 2021 season and went just 1-5 against their division rivals last season. Obviously, improving their record in the division will also improve their overall record, giving them more favorable seeding in the NFL Playoffs.
It will be interesting to see how the division race shakes out in 2025 as the Detroit Lions lost their starting center to a sudden retirement and both coordinators to other NFL head coaching jobs. The Minnesota Vikings, meanwhile, are relying on unproven JJ McCarthy to lead their offense.
The Chicago Bears, meanwhile, have been boasting all offseason about how this will finally be their year after hiring Ben Johnson and surrounding Caleb Williams with more talent.
Indeed, the North is wide open this year, but the Packers appear to be focused on something bigger.
And that is the way it should be.
