The Green Bay Packers are 2-0 on the season as they head into their Week Three matchup against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Unfortunately, the Packers are already dealing with multiple injuries to key players, as many other teams in the NFL are. Wide receiver Jayden Reed, for example, who led Green Bay in receptions and receiving yards in each of the past two seasons, is out for six-to-eight weeks after breaking his collar bone in Week Two against the Washington Commanders.
In addition to getting surgery to repair his collar bone, Reed also had a surgery on his foot to repair a Jones fracture.
And while moving ahead without Reed is no easy task, the good thing is that quarterback Jordan Love has stayed upright and healthy through the first two games of the season. As many will recall, Love sprained his MCL in Week One of the 2024 NFL season, missed two games, and then was hampered by a groin injury for most of last season as well.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has played exceptionally well through the first two weeks of the season
Through two games this season, Love has a 66.0% completion percentage, 480 passing yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 120.0 passer rating. Not only are these numbers impressive, but he also leads the NFL with 13.7 yards per completion.
Indeed, Love’s ability to navigate the pocket has improved his overall performance. Last season, his knee and groin kept him from escaping the pocket and caused him to make poor decisions throwing the football.
It also limited the number of times he tucked the ball and ran it himself. Last season, Love rushed 25 times for 83 yards, a touchdown, and nine first downs. The year prior, he ran the ball 50 times for 247 yards, four touchdowns, and 16 first downs.
Clearly, the injuries had a negative impact on him.
But this season, Love has already ran six times for 16 yards and two first downs. And while those numbers do not jump off the page, they are an indication that he is feeling like himself. One only needs to see what he did to Commanders rookie cornerback Trey Amos on Thursday night to see the difference.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love discusses “trucking” over Trey Amos
Early in the game against Washington, Love tuck the ball and ran to the sideline as he tried to pick up a first down. He was about a yard short when rookie cornerback Trey Amos came to hit him and make a stop.
But instead of sliding like most quarterbacks would, Love lowered his shoulder and ran him over, picked up an extra five yards, and got the first down.

On Wednesday, Love talked to the media about his decision to lay Amos out, and whether or not he would ever attempt something like that again.
“Man, I don’t know. It probably wouldn’t have been something I would have tired, honestly,” Love said when asked if he could have made that play a year ago. “It was one of those things, you know? When you’re playing, you’re not thinking too much.”
Love said that the decision to make plays such as that depend on how his body is feeling at the time. Fortunately, it was feeling good on Thursday night, and he did not suffer an injury on the play.
As stated, Love’s mobility this season is much better than last year, and this should provide a huge wrinkle to the Packers’ offense as defenses also cannot cheat on the wide receivers because of the danger Green Bay’s could take off on them.
