Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been in total control of this offseason ever since the mid-point of the 2023 season. Love sat out the first week of camp without a contract and then he received his new contract extension.
Ever since stepping on the practice field for the Packers, Love feels like a quarterback who is on a mission to get it done. Jordan Love played in minimal preseason action on Saturday against the Cleveland Browns and he had a 65-yard touchdown pass to Dontayvion Wicks.
Love spreads the love to his players and likes to hit different wide receivers open. The Packers have a loaded offensive unit entering the 2024 season.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Was Impressive With the Deep Ball In Practice On Tuesday
On Tuesday in practice, there were several occasions when Love was very successful with the deep ball. Ryan Wood, a Packers USA Today beat writer said about what the star quarterback did during practice:
“Jordan Love connects on a go route to Christian Watson for 50 yards. Watson beat Eric Stokes deep and used his size to shield the #Packers cornerback to win ball in air. Third time Love has connected with Watson on a deep go in camp. Those two might torch defenses this fall.”
This was not the only instance that the stud quarterback made a huge play in practice on Tuesday as well. Ryan Wood also added:
“Another go ball from Jordan Love, this one dropped over shoulder perfectly to Jayden Reed down left sideline for 40 yards. Love dropped a dime to Reed up the left seam that Reed couldn’t handle earlier in period. Comes right back to him and connects for huge play.”
Love also had a two-year touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs in practice. His deep ball was so effective that rookie safety Evan Williams committed a defensive pass interference in practice on Bo Melton. This may not be the only time that Love is drawing deep defensive pass interference penalties this year.
There could be several times this year in games that he throws it deep and the other team commits pass interference penalties. What is scary is that Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs can all catch it deep for this offseason. They also have Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft at the tight end position and there are so many receiving options. Love is ready to enter an elite category this season.
