Depending on who you ask, the Green Bay Packers are a dark horse Super Bowl contender heading into 2025. While experts can disagree about how dangerous this Packers team is, none will argue that the team will go as far as quarterback Jordan Love can take them. After dealing with injuries and other setbacks last year, Love has to level up his game approaching the 2025-26 season. Recently, Love sat down with ESPN’s Kevin Clark to reveal what his biggest area of growth between this year and last will be.

Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love Needs to Be More Consistent in 2025
Jordan Love is unquestionably one of the most talented QBs in the NFL. His arm talent and big-play ability are up there with the best in the league. However, what is a fair criticism of Love is to question how consistently he can be the best version of himself.
Consistency is what Love needs to focus on heading into the 2025-26 season. Cutting out on egregious turnovers, limiting plays where he tries to do too much, and eliminating reps with subpar footwork are all things Love will need to improve at. Love is well aware of many of these concerns and acknowledged them when appearing on the This is Football podcast with host Kevin Clark of ESPN.
“I think a big focus for me is just the consistency, trying to be the best player I can be every play.”

Love expounded on this by specifically mentioning his footwork as something that he can elevate. Inconsistent footwork is one of the most common culprits for NFL QBs missing throws, whether it be inaccurate ball location or being too late to throw the ball into a certain window. Love admitted that his accuracy was not good enough overall last year, which he attributed to his footwork.
In addition to consistency, Love also had some thoughts on one underrated area of his game that he can continue to incorporate.

Jordan Love Plans on Using His Legs More in 2025
A large part of any QB’s game is footwork, whether on traditional drop backs, bootlegs, plays involving the quarterback moving in the pocket, and even footwork during running plays. While Love is looking to perfect this part of his game, he also has another lower-body-related idea for improving in 2025.
Love told Clark that he wants to use his legs and his running ability to combat more broken down plays. While Love already has demonstrated the capability of extending plays and making off-platform throws, the Packers signal-caller expressed his wish to improve on his running ability.

In 2024-25, Love was 56th in the NFL in scramble rate for quarterbacks. While this is not necessarily indicative of an unwillingness to run, it does show that Love is not commonly in situations where he is using his legs to make a play. Expect this 2.66% scramble rate to increase in 2025-26.
Love has the goal of making more off-schedule plays in order to help the team overcome in certain situations. Whether it is running it himself or being able to move, reset his feet, and then throw downfield, Love plans to help the offense take the next step by being more consistently able to make the most out of every situation.
