The Green Bay Packers are preparing to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon in what is sure to be a hard-fought battle between two of the NFC’s best teams. At 11-4, the Packers can no long compete for the NFC North crown, but they can open the door for an improved seed in the NFL Playoffs win a win today. The Vikings, on the other hand, are 13-2 and only trail the Detroit Lions in the division because they lost their only game against them so far.
Detroit and Minnesota play each other next week.
In other words, both teams have something to play for, with Minnesota arguably having more to lose given their situation.
Unfortunately, the Packers will be without a few key players on both sides of the ball this afternoon.
The Green Bay Packers Have Six Players Inactive vs the Minnesota Vikings
A few minutes ago, the Packers announced that the following six players would be inactive for the game against Minnesota:
- Jaire Alexander
- Andre Dillard
- Christian Watson
- Evan Williams
- Omar Brown
- Quay Walker
Alexander, of course, was ruled out before the weekend started. He is still recovering from a torn PCL that he suffered in Week Eight.
Watson was hurt in the Packers’ 34-0 win over the New Orleans Saints last week. The general consensus is that, if the NFC North was still in play for Green Bay, he would be active. However, as it stands, they would prefer not to risk further injury.
Dillard is out with a concussion, Walker has a sprained ankle, and Williams is still dealing with a sore quad that he hurt in practice a couple of weeks ago.
Brown was elevated to the active roster from the practice squad yesterday.
Javon Bullard Is Returning for the Green Bay Packers
Noticeably missing from the list of inactive players is safety Javon Bullard. That is because he is making his return to the field for the first time since injuring his ankle against the Lions on December 5.
So far this season, Bullard has played in 13 games (10 starts) and has recorded 74 tackles and a pass deflection.
The rookie safety, whom the Packers drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, was listed as questionable on the injury report going into the weekend. The uncertainty surrounding whether or not he would be available to play was why Brown was elevated from the practice squad in the first place.
