It is no secret that things are tense between the Green Bay Packers and their star cornerback Jaire Alexander. Playing on a four-year $84 million contract, Alexander has played in 14 out of a possible 34 games over the last two seasons, and 34 of a possible 68 games over the last four.
This past year, the two-time Pro Bowler missed time early in the season with a groin injury, and then the final eight games of the year with an injured knee. Apparently, Alexander and the Packers could not agree on the best way to treat the injury. Despite being a full participant in participant in practice multiple times as the season winded down, he never was activated.
He also did not play in Green Bay’s Wild Card loss to the Philadelphia Eagles as he finally had surgery on his knee.
Jaire Alexander Said He Did Not Know If He Would Return to the Green Bay Packers in 2025

After the Packers lost to the Eagles, players returned to Lambeau Field to empty out their lockers for the offseason. Many of them gave season-ending interviews to media members, but Alexander was not one of them.
He did state, though, that he had nothing good to say and that he was not sure if he was even going to be back next year.
This statement sparked a great deal of criticism of the oft-injured cornerback from fans. There is no doubt that, when healthy, he is still one of the best defensive backs in the NFL. The problem, though, is that he has rarely been healthy.
And while general manager Brian Gutekunst has remained mum on whether or not the team would part ways with Alexander, the general consensus among the media and fans is that they will. Reports have also stated that Green Bay has explored possible trades for him.
However, none have materialized.
The Green Bay Packers Are Not Moving Jaire Alexander… Yet

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, the Packers are not moving Alexander, at least not right now. Whether this means they will try to mend their relationship with him, trade him, or release him is not known.
“At this point, cornerback Jaire Alexander remains a member of the Packers. While X was down, a source said Packers GM Brian Gutekunst is ‘not moving him yet.’ It remains to be seen what happens if they don’t trade him and whether that would lead to his outright release.”
This development has led many fans to urge Green Bay to just keep him.
“They shouldnt be in a rush to move him either,” one user wrote.
Another said, “Shouldn’t be moving him at all.”
One user said that they think the Packers should wait until the NFL Draft to move him: “Probably would make sense to just hold him until the draft and then hope someone pulls the trigger on unloading a mid-round pick for him.”
Finally, another just wants to see the Packers just keep him to end the speculation: “Might as well just keep him if you can’t get a good offer.”
