The Green Bay Packers are set to play their final game in the 2024 NFL regular season this coming Sunday when they take on NFC North division rivals Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field.
The Packers have already clinched a ticket to the playoffs, but they can still improve their seeding for the postseason. In any case, Sunday’s showdown against the Bears is an opportunity for star running back Josh Jacobs to set a new Green Bay franchise record.
In a social media post on Instagram, the Packers revealed that the former Alabama Crimson Tide star is tied with Packers legend Paul Hornung for most consecutive games with a rushing touchdown.

After scoring a rushing TD in Week 17’s loss at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings on the road, Jacobs extended his streak to seven games, thus keeping the door open for him to break Hornung’s record, which was set in 1960.
Will Josh Jacobs break the record in Week 18 during Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears game?
It remains to be seen just how much work Jacobs will have against the Bears, as Green Bay could opt to give him a lighter load than usual. Either way, Jacobs has already proven himself as a productive piece of the Packers’ attack that enters Week 18 ranked fifth in the NFL with 144.6 rushing yards per game and 8th with 27.4 points per outing.
Over the last seven Packers games, Jacobs has amassed 523 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on 137 rushing attempts.
Jacobs’ streak actually started in Week 11 against the Bears where he rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries to help the Packers come away with a 20-19 win at Soldier Field.
