It has been a topsy-turvy kind of 2024 NFL season for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed. There were some highlights like his performance in Week 1, albeit in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil where he had 138 receiving yards and a touchdown while also scoring on the ground.
But then there are games like the one he just had in Week 17’s 27-25 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in which he reeled in just one of the four targets he saw for a mere total of six receiving yards.
Reed is having a drop issue, as further illustrated by the fact that he’s got one of the worst drop rates in the league.
Via Peter Bukowski of Locked on Packers:
Jayden Reed being among league leaders in drop rate is totally bizarre. He had a 4.5% drop rate last year. It’s nearly 16% this year. And he’s going to end up likely seeing FEWER total targets.
Jayden Reed can still expect touches amid struggles
Despite the obvious issue with Reed, Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich remains adamant in trying to give Reed looks downfield.
OC Adam Stenavich says there is an emphasis on ensuring Jayden Reed gets his touches: “You’re always trying to get him the ball. He’s one of those guys who can, as you’ve seen, he can make a lot of special plays.”
Reed can atone for his poor performance in the Viking game in the NFL playoffs – or perhaps this coming Sunday when the Packers close out their regular-season schedule in a home game at Lambeau Field versus the Chicago Bears.
