The Green Bay Packers got a visit from an old friend on Friday, with former star wide receiver Jordy Nelson dropping by the team’s training camp along with his family.
Nelson needs no reintroduction to Packers fans, as he’s one of the best wideouts (and players) ever to put on a Green Bay uniform. He spent nine of his 10 playing years in the NFL with the Packers, during which he earned a Pro Bowl nod and collected 7,848 receiving yards and 69 touchdowns on 550 receptions and 836 targets.
Now, 40 years old, Nelson can also be remembered as among the best weapons downfield by former Green Bay superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
As he visited the Packers, it can be recalled that he had a glowing review of rookie wideout Matthew Golden back in April.
Via DJ Siddiqi of RG:
“Speed,” says Nelson when asked what Golden brings to the table for Jordan Love and the offense. “That’s what I’ve been hearing is a lot of speed. That’s something that will be good to be able to stretch the field on the outside, maybe open it up inside, with a couple tight ends they have with (Jayden) Reed, all the work he does with speed sweeps and everything inside.”
Jordy Nelson’s surprise Packers camp visit has fans talking about his elbow

The sight of Nelson at the Packers’ training camp turned a lot of heads, but many fans also took notice of his elbow, which didn’t seem right in their eyes.

“Elbow!!!”
“Some MLB pitchers would actually kill for an elbow like that”
“For those asking the elbow is what generated all his speed”
“just curious, does the huge lump on his elbow come from the playing days or likely something else?”
“Need an injury update on that elbow. Looks like a softball.”
