Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love, despite what many fans and analysts say, did not have a terrible year during the 2024 NFL season. That being said, many (including himself) expected him to play much better than he did. Love finished the 2024 season with a 63/1% completion percentage, 3,389 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 96.7 passer rating in 15 games played.
He, of course, missed two games early in the season due to a sprained MCL, and then played through a groin injury for much of the second half of the season.
However, Love’s first two seasons as Green Bay’s starting quarterback rank right up there with the first two seasons of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers under center:
Brett Favre | Aaron Rodgers | Jordan Love | |
Completion % | 62.4% | 64.2% | 63.7% |
Passing Yards | 6,530 | 8,472 | 7,548 |
Touchdowns | 37 | 58 | 57 |
Interceptions | 37 | 20 | 22 |
Passer Rating | 78.4 | 98.5 | 96.3 |
Unfortunately, it appears that, while Love and the Packers had envisioned 2025 being a healthy season, the starting quarterback will, once again, be dealing with an injury early on.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Has a Thumb Injury

While Love showed up to training camp healthy, he did not make it out of Green Bay’s first preseason game, a 30-10 loss to the New York Jets, unscathed.
According to head coach Matt LaFleur, the Packers quarterback sustained an injury of his left thumb. Apparently, there is some ligament damage, and Love will be undergoing a small procedure to fix it.
#Packers QB Jordan Love tore a ligament in his left thumb and had a procedure to repair it, GM Brian Gutekunst announced. He called it a “little procedure.”

As one can see from the post above, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters that Love is not expected to miss any regular season time.
In fact, there are some reports out there that he could return to practice as early as next week since the injury is not on his throwing hand.
Green Bay Packers Fans Are Having a Melt Down Over the Jordan Love Injury

Despite the facts that Love is expected back at practice next week, will not miss any regular season time, and the injury is on his non-throwing hand, some Packers fans are already seriously concerned about his long-term health and the fate of Green Bay’s season:

As one can see, many fans are now labeling the Packers quarterback as injury prone, given his injuries last season, and now this.
It should be remembered, though, that his predecessors, both Favre and Rodgers, constantly played through numerous injuries during their tenures in Green Bay.
It is just part of the game.
