Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed has not scored a receiving touchdown since Malik Willis started taking over the starting quarterback role as a placeholder for the recovering Jordan Love.
Nevertheless, at least one expert thinks that Reed is about to find the end zone via air this coming Sunday when the Packers host the undefeated Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field.
For Seth Walder of ESPN, Reed’s receiving touchdown drought will be ending on Sunday, in large part because of the wideout’s potential to cook an underperforming piece of what is an otherwise powerful Vikings defense.
Bold prediction: Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed scores a touchdown. Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. is off to a rough start, allowing 2.2 yards per coverage snap, per NFL Next Gen Stats. That’s almost a full yard above the average for the position. Although Murphy lines up all over, he does spend time in the slot, which means he’ll surely have some snaps marking Reed.
Will Jayden Reed score a touchdown catch for the Green Bay Packers in Week 4?
The Packers have relied so much on their rushing attack to generate offense in the past two games, with Green Bay opting to plan around the strengths of Willis, as they wait for Love to be healthy.
Love appears to have a considerable chance of playing against the Vikings, and if he does get the green light, Reed’s odds of scoring a touchdown reception should get a nice boost.
So far in the 2024 NFL regular season, Reed has 197 receiving yards and a touchdown catch on 10 receptions. Moreover, Reed has a rushing touchdown and 89 yards on five carries.
