The Green Bay Packers wide receiver room entering the 2024 NFL season was considered one of the deepest in the league and one with a ton of promise. With the offseason looming, the wide receiver room needs another look entering the 2025 NFL offseason.
There seem to be more questions than answers about the position. There is still no true number-one wide receiver for quarterback Jordan Love. Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson could miss the entire 2025 season with a torn ACL. There is also a chance that Romeo Doubs could be traded this offseason.
Fansided.com Encourages the Green Bay Packers To Sign Wide Receiver DeAndre Hopkins This NFL Offseason
Fansided.com writer Rucker Haringey wrote about five different free agents that the Green Bay Packers could sign this NFL offseason to help them win the Super Bowl next year. One player that Haringey mentioned that they should sign was wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. He is currently on the Kansas City Chiefs and Hopkins is trying to help the Chiefs three-peat this season.
“DeAndre Hopkins is not the No. 1 wide receiver the Packers desperately need at this stage of his career. He has, however, been an integral part of the Chiefs’ offense in 2024 after being traded to Kansas City from Tennessee.
Even at 32 years of age, Hopkins has reeled in 56 passes for 610 yards and five touchdowns. He is not an electric downfield threat, but he does an excellent job of working the middle of the field on intermediate routes. Hopkins could be a valuable safety blanket as an outside receiver for the Packers.
Signing Hopkins will not require a legitimate contender like Green Bay to break the bank. A two-year, incentive-laden deal could be perfect for the veteran wideout and the Packers. He should be a top priority for Gutekunst when free agency opens up.”
DeAndre Hopkins would no doubt be a much cheaper option for the Green Bay Packers rather than Tee Higgins. Hopkins would be the number one option in this Packers offense, but he would be more of a short-term option rather than a long-term option.
Potential NFL Draft Options For Wide Receiver
The Green Bay Packers will look at potential number-one wide receiver options in the 2025 NFL Draft as well. There is a chance that Green Bay will sign a player like Tee Higgins, DeAndre Hopkins, or someone else at wide receiver this offseason, but it won’t potentially stop the Packers from drafting a wide receiver in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Jayden Higgins from Iowa State, Elic Ayomanor from Stanford, or Matthew Golden from Texas could be some wide receivers that the Green Bay Packers could potentially draft this offseason. Also, if the Kansas City Chiefs do not bring back DeAndre Hopkins next year, Hopkins could very well be signed by the Packers.
