The Green Bay Packers haven’t spent a first-round draft pick to bolster their offense in the past few years, but one analyst believes they could go in a different direction in next year’s NFL Draft.
According to Blake Brockermeyer of CBS, if the Green Bay Packers plan to add another playmaker to their ranks, they should consider selecting Ohio State Buckeyes wideout Emeka Egbuka in the first round, where they’re projected to have the No. 27 overall pick.
“Egbuka has consistently delivered for the Buckeyes, serving as one of their top targets in the passing game and a versatile weapon in the run game,” Brockermeyer wrote in his column. “He’s a silky-smooth route runner with exceptional hands, situational awareness, and the ability to turn any touch into a big play.”
The Green Bay Packers already know who Emeka Egbuka is since they reportedly sent scouts for him last year. The Athletic recently likened Emeka Egbuka to Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Do the Green Bay Packers need Emeka Egbuka?
The Green Bay Packers have one of the youngest wide receiver groups in the NFL with Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Bo Melton, and Dontayvion Wicks in their team. However, they don’t have a clear-cut no. 1 option.
Emeka Egbuka has the potential to be a no. 1 option the Green Bay Packers have lacked since the departure of Davante Adams, but they may be better off addressing other areas on the pitch next summer.
Nonetheless, that doesn’t take away the fact that Emeka Egbuka is one of the top prospects. He already has 743 receiving yards, 21 rushing yards, and nine touchdowns in 12 games this season.
