Many fans and analysts expect the Green Bay Packers to be big players in free agency this offseason. With more salary cap room than they have had in years, there are a number of players at multiple positions that are sure to be targeted by Green Bay to address specific holes on their roster. The good news is that, due to their cap space, Green Bay can realistically afford whichever player they want.
One name that has been linked to the Packers for weeks now is that of their former All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams. The six-time Pro Bowler was recently released by the New York Jets and is now a free agent. But while Adams has teased being open to a reunion with Green Bay this offseason, he has also reportedly expressed interest in playing on the West Coast.
The Green Bay Packers May Be Competing with 3 California Teams for Davante Adams

After the Jets 5-12 season ended, it was painfully clear that Adams would not be back in 2025, and the same ended up being true of former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is going to be released post-June 1.
The belief has always been that Adams and Rodgers would like to end up on the same team. But so far the only team that has shown any kind of interest in the four-time NFL MVP quarterback is the New York Giants, and that does not appear to be a team that Adams would like to play for.
Instead, NFL insider Ian Rapoport previously reported that Adams would like to play on the West Coast:
While the assumption has been that Davante Adams wants to play with Aaron Rodgers (and historically, that’s been the plan), my understanding is the pull of being on the West Coast is very real. https://t.co/FpUrl43vPh

This would infer that the three other teams Adams would consider playing for are the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, and San Francisco 49ers.
However, a couple of recent quarterback moves around the NFL this weekend may have brought two other teams into the sweepstakes.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Could Play for the Minnesota Vikings or New Orleans Saints

Over the last few days, there have a few quarterback decisions around the NFL that could play a factor in where Adams plays next season. The first was the Seattle Seahawks trading Pro Bowl quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders.
In the wake of the trade, it was reported that Seattle was targeting Sam Darnold, the soon-to-be former Minnesota Vikings quarterback, as their priority in free agency. This, in turn, led to the rumor that Minnesota could entertain signing Rodgers as a bridge quarterback before JJ McCarthy eventually takes over.
Obviously, the possibility of playing with Rodgers on a team that won 14 games last season would be a difficult one to pass up.
The second quarterback decision that could factor into where Adams plays in 2025 was the New Orleans Saints retaining Derek Carr. They converted most of his 2025 to a signing bonus to free up cap space, which guarantees he will be back with the team next season.
One of the contributing factors Adams had in choosing the Las Vegas Riders as his preferred trade destination following the 2021 season was the chance to reunite with Carr, who was his quarterback at Fresno State.
If Green Bay wants to land Adams again this offseason, it looks like they will have plenty of competition.
