The Green Bay Packers traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders before the 2022 NFL season. Adams played for the Raiders for a couple of seasons before being traded to the New York Jets during the middle of the 2024 NFL season.
With the Jets sitting at 3-10 this season, there is a chance that Davante Adams is not back with them next season and could play elsewhere. It would be interesting to see where Adams would be traded to if the Jets moved off of him.
Green Bay Packers Could Bring Back Davante Adams In a Trade During the 2025 NFL Offseason
Fansided.com writer Brad Berreman wrote about potential trade destinations for Davante Adams this offseason. One of those teams could very well be the Green Bay Packers. Berreman wrote:
“Adams could very well head back to Green Bay as his career starts to wind down, albeit without Rogers. A young group of receivers that often struggles for consistency could use a veteran leader, and Jordan Love could also use a reliable veteran target.
Green Bay has the 2025 cap space ($62.7 million right now, according to Over The Cap) to add Adams if they want to. They are a team on the rise, as Adams surely will want to join a contender after parting with the Jets.
It might look weird to see Adams back in a Packers’ uniform. But they could have some interest in him, and he can definitely see a situation to like as he chases a Super Bowl ring.”
The interesting thing is that Green Bay does not have to pay any of its young star players for at least another year or two. However, would the Packers want to trade for Adams as a one-year or two-year rental? That is something that remains to be seen.
Other Key Information
There is other key information involving Adams moving forward. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported:
“Adams is on the books for $35.64 million for each year in 2025 and 2026. The Jets will never pay him that kind of money at age 33 and 34. All sides know those numbers will have to be redone. If Adams wants out, he can simply decline any offers to redo the deal and wait until they release him before free agency begins on March 12 (rather than carry that number into the new league year).”
Green Bay is in win-now mode, but other teams need wide receiver help more than the Packers. One potential team that could make a move for the star wide receiver this offseason is the Los Angeles Chargers.
