As the Green Bay Packers are in the early days of training camp, preparing for the 2025 NFL season, there are not many questions surrounding the roster. Of course, the wide receiver position is filled with about 13 different players all vying for a spot on the team, but there is little question regarding who the top players at the position will be.
Similarly, the cornerback position, while many question the quality of its depth, is fairly well set in regard to who the top players at that position are on the roster.
And while there offensive line jobs up for grabs, there are no doubts that Green Bay will, once again, have a stellar starting five that will be among the NFL’s best.
But there is one position that, for the first time in a while, is not getting much attention. And that is a good thing.
Green Bay Packers Kicker Brandon McManus Has Brought Peace of Mind to the Position

That position is the kicker position, which, for the first time since Green Bay decided to move on from Mason Crosby following the 2022 season, is not one of the stories of training camp.
Anders Carlson, who was drafted to replace Crosby, did not perform well in his first NFL training camp in 2023. He also did not perform well during the season.
Last year, both Carlson and veteran Greg Joseph struggled to make kicks consistently in camp and preseason games, leading both to be cut and replaced by Brayden Narveson.
Narveson, though, struggled through seven games last season and was released. He was replaced by veteran Brandon McManus, who went on to make over 95% of his field goal attempts with Green Bay.
After signing a three-year contract with the Packers this offseason, McManus is present in camp, hitting kicks at a perfect rate:
Brandon McManus is a perfect 15-of-15 on field goals through training camp so far. When asked if that gives Matt LaFleur peace of mind, he says, “I don’t even think about it. It’s great.”

Since the post above was made, McManus made three more kicks during practice on Monday, making him a perfect 18 for 18.
As Zach Jacobson notes above, head coach Matt LaFleur doesn’t even think about the kicking unit anymore, which is a much better place to be than constantly wondering if his kicker would make anything over the last two seasons.
