Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has finally broken former Green Bay Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers’ NFL record for fewest games to 40 passing touchdowns in the postseason. Mahomes needed just 18 games to do it, while Rodgers appeared in 19 playoff contests to reach that number.

Patrick Mahomes Breaks Former Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Record In The Playoffs
Mahomes entered Sunday night’s Super Bowl 58 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers with 39 career postseason touchdown passes through 17 games. That meant that if he failed to pass for a touchdown against the Niners, he could only tie Rodgers for the record — at best. But Mahomes did it with the help of another former Green Bay Packers player, as he found wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling wide open in the end zone late in the third quarter.
Where Mahomes has long beaten Aaron Rodgers is in terms of Super Bowl wins. While Rodgers only has a Super Bowl to show (he won Super Bowl 45 with the Green Bay Packers), Mahomes already now has three rings — and he’s still just 28 years old. Mahomes also has two NFL MVPs to his name, which means he is juuuust two MVPs away from tying Rodgers’ total of four.
