Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers met with the Pittsburgh Steelers at their team facility for over six hours on Friday. And while Pittsburgh has a contract offer on the table for the future Pro Football Hall of Famer, he left without signing a deal. That being said, it is reported that the meeting was positive and more of a “get to know you” session.
That being said, Pittsburgh is not the only team that is interested in the four-time NFL MVP. While the Minnesota Vikings have stated that they are not interested in pursuing him at this time, the New York Giants have had reported interest in his services for weeks.
However, today, New York signed a different veteran quarterback.
Former Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Sees the New York Giants Sign Jameis Winston

On Friday evening, former number one overall pick Jameis Winston revealed that he had signed with the Giants for the 2025 season:

Winston spent the 2024 NFL season with the Cleveland Browns. In 12 games (five starts), he completed 61.1% of his passes for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and an 80.6 passer rating.
Prior to his year with the Browns, Winston spent four seasons as a backup quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. And before that, he was the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for five seasons.
In 2019, he became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 30+ touchdowns while also throwing 30 interceptions.
The New York Giants Are Not Ruling Out Former Green Bay Packers Star Aaron Rodgers

While this signing might have, on the surface, indicated that the Giants were tired of waiting on Rodgers to make a decision, reports now state that it changes nothing in regard to their pursuit of him:
This does not change the #Giants’ pursuit of Aaron Rodgers or alter any other possible QB routes. Just getting a veteran QB under contract in a QB room that only had Tommy DeVito coming into the day. https://t.co/Rx6JruWVCa

Winston’s deal with New York is just for two years and $8 million. They certainly still can sign Rodgers if he chooses them as the team that he wants to play for in 2025 (if he wants to play at all). However, one has to assume that the Steelers are a far more attractive option for him as they were 10-7 last season while the Giants were 3-14.
New York has also seen former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson express interest in playing for them. And, of course, they are likely going to draft their quarterback of the future in the upcoming NFL Draft.
