The Green Bay Packers will be looking to upgrade its roster, especially to its defense in 2024 and one of the names that they could potentially look at is Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa. Los Angeles is 5-9 on the year and they just fired Brandon Staley as head coach and also just fired their general manager.
The Chargers may be looking to start over and get rid of some big contracts. Green Bay is 6-8 on the year and on the outside looking in. The Green Bay Packers will be looking to make moves on the defense side of the football this offseason. They will probably bring in a new defensive coordinator and they probably won’t bring back Joe Barry next season but who knows?
Green Bay also needs to improve on defense. Bosa has recorded 20 tackles, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one pass deflection this season. He suffered a foot injury back on 11/19 against the Green Bay Packers and has not played since.
Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report Believes that the Green Bay Packers Should Trade Its First Round Pick in 2024 For Joey Bosa
Ballentine wrote an article on Bleacher Report last week about how Green Bay should make a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers and get Joey Bosa and give up its first-round selection in 2024. The Packers would have other selections in the second and third rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft to get quality talent.
The good news is that Green Bay does not need to draft a quarterback because they feel like quarterback Jordan Love is the guy moving forward. Alex Ballentine said about Green Bay trading for Bosa this offseason:
“The Packers have been at their most dominant when they’ve had two great pass rushers coming off the edge. Preston Smith, Za’Darius Smith and Rashan Gary formed a terrifying trio for opposing offenses for a few years before Za’Darius was released. Now, Preston Smith is 31 years old and the team has an out in his contract after this season. Rashan Gary has taken over the role of top pass-rusher on the team and Lukas Van Ness is still a promising prospect. Trading for a veteran with the ability to take over a game would get the Packers back to where they once were. If the Packers are going to take a big swing in the trade market, it would be worth it to call the Chargers about Bosa. The Chargers are 5-8 this season and big changes could be coming.”
According to Spotrac, Joey Bosa would not become a free agent until after the 2025 season, but there is a potential out after this season. It will be interesting to see what the Los Angeles Chargers would do. He is only 28 years old and the Green Bay Packers would be happy to get him.
