The Green Bay Packers could very well be using one of its 2025 NFL Draft selections on a wide receiver. It is very rare for Green Bay to draft wide receivers in the first round. With the news of Christian Watson tearing his ACL on Monday, there is a chance that the Packers potentially look at the 2025 NFL Draft to find his replacement.
Two years ago, Jayden Reed was drafted in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft from the Michigan State Spartans. In years past, the Green Bay Packers also drafted Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson in the second round.
One Potential Replacement For Christian Watson On the Green Bay Packers Is Iowa State Cyclones Wide Receiver Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins is 6’4″ and weighs 215 lbs. Higgins this past season with the Iowa State Cyclones caught 87 passes for 1,183 yards receiving, and nine touchdowns, along with averaging 13.6 yards per catch. He has shown growth in every single season with the Cyclones.
Higgins no doubt would be a red zone threat for the Green Bay Packers. Jordan Love needs that reliable target in the red zone to throw to.
Jalen Royals, Utah State Aggies
Another wide receiver who the Green Bay Packers could potentially draft in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft is Jalen Royals from the Utah State Aggies. Royals is 6’0″ and weighs 205 lbs. This past season with Utah State, he caught 55 passes for 834 yards receiving and six touchdowns, along with averaging 15.2 yards per catch.
Royals had 1,080 yards receiving the season before. He was very productive for two seasons for the Utah State Aggies. Jalen Royals had his season cut short due to injuries. He had over 100 yards receiving in each of his last four games played. Royals last played on 10/19 against the New Mexico Lobos and caught 11 passes for 188 yards receiving and one touchdown, along with averaging 17.1 yards per catch.
Elic Ayomanor, Stanford
Ayomanor is 6’2″ and weighs 210 lbs. He is another wide receiver who the Green Bay Packers could potentially target in the second round or later in the 2025 NFL Draft to replace Christian Watson. Elic Ayomanor this past season caught 63 passes for 831 yards receiving and six touchdowns, along with averaging 13.2 yards per catch.
Elic Ayomanor is a wide receiver who could be a steal in the later rounds. However, Jayden Higgins or Jalen Royals would be more of an ideal choice for this organization with one of their draft picks.
