The Disney movie Rise introduced us to the Antetokounmpo brothers and family, but Giannis has created a family of his own. The professional basketball player from Athens has a long-term girlfriend from Fresno, California. Giannis Antetokounmpo’s girlfriend, Mariah, has an athletic past of her own.
Mariah Riddlesprigger
Mariah, commonly known as Giannis Antetokounmpo’s girlfriend, was born on September 17th, 1992. Her father, Pat Riddlesprigger, played basketball for Fresno State. Her mother, Cathy, is a regional sales manager for Allstar Fire Equipment. She has two sisters, Maya and Makayla, who also play volleyball.
She attended Bullard High School and graduated in 2010. Four years later, she graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas, with a BA in sports management and sociology with a minor in business.
Aside from her studies, she was on the student-athlete advisory committee, the track and field team, and played volleyball. As a volleyball player for the Rice Owls, she scored 193 kills as a freshman in her first season. She continued to shine throughout the next three years with 342 total kills, 212 digs, and 22 total blocks.
During college, she worked at the University ticket office from 2011-2013. After graduating, she worked as a basketball operations intern for the NBA Philadelphia 76ers summer league from 2015 to 2016. She was outwardly thankful for this opportunity because it allowed her to meet many business people, team presidents, and ESPN executives that could help her land a great job at a sports agency.
However, as we all know, life changes before we know it. Mariah got sidetracked before reaching this goal. She became somewhat famous after dating Giannis and embarked on other adventures.

Sincerely, Mariah is Mariah’s personal project. She was inspired to create this brand after seeing how her body and mind changed after childbirth. A new life, a new body, and the pandemic affected her confidence.
She launched the brand on Mother’s Day of 2021 (May 9th). It is a comfort clothing brand that focuses on body positivity, self-expression, and happiness. The brand’s slogan is, “Uniquely made, undeniably worthy, unapologetically me.”
It’s not uncommon to see Giannis rocking one of these shirts. He appears to be an involved, caring, supportive, and dedicated partner.
Giannis Antetokounmpo
In case you haven’t seen the film, Giannis is a Greek-Nigerian basketball player who plays for the Milwaukee Bucks. Because of his stature (6’11) and agility, people call him the Greek Freak.
His parents are from Nigeria, but they immigrated to Greece a few years before he was born in December 1994. He has two older and two younger brothers, three of whom are also NBA players.
Since the 2013 NBA draft, Giannis has gotten bigger, better, faster, and stronger. Giannis has won two NBA MVP awards- in 2019 and 2020. In 2021, Giannis took the Bucks to their first NBA championship game since 1971. He was named ESPN’s best player for the 2022-2023 season.
At only 27 years old, his current net worth is approximately 70 million dollars.
As a Couple
There isn’t a lot of backstory about Mariah and Giannis’ relationship, but some sources say it started in 2010. As a child, the Lakers were Mariah’s favorite team. Now, of course, she roots for the Bucks.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s girlfriend admits she used to be scared of travel but now loves it. Giannis and Mariah are quite active on their social media and share insights into their lives. They travel to Greece as a family at least once a year. Mariah says she can read and understand some Greek but doesn’t know enough to reply in the language.
In 2018, Giannis bought a home for his family in River Hills, Wisconsin. The 1.9 million dollar home is 9,976 square feet and has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Here, the couple lives together with their children.
Antetokounmpo Children
Mariah and Giannis have two children together. Their first child, Liam Charles Antetokounmpo, was born on February 10th, 2020. Their second child, Maverick Shai Antetokounmpo, was born on August 18, 2021.
