The big talk since the blockbuster trade that brought Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks has been how he’s going to play alongside Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Individually, both Lillard and Antetokounmpo have stated how excited they are to work together and how well they’ll mesh together on the court, and they aren’t the only ones talking.
Former NBA Star says Bucks have the Best Chance at Winning the Championship
Former NBA star Kevin Garnett said in the latest episode of KG Certified on Showtime Basketball that the Bucks are ready to win a championship, and that he’ll be shocked if they don’t end up taking it all.
“I think the Milwaukee situation is the most ready to win now,” Garnett said. “If they don’t win this year, I’ll be very shocked.”
Garnett relates this situation back to his time with Minnesota and how he had to take most of the workload with the Timberwolves, and after coming to Boston, he had less responsibility but still had support around him even if all eyes weren’t on him at all times.

Kevin Garnett also talked about how both Dame and Giannis are going to appreciate having one another to rely on during games.
“I think Giannis and Dame are going to appreciate each other just because they have each other. You can actually sit Giannis down for six to eight minutes stretch. You can give Dame that six to eight minutes stretch…where it’s just Dame, Middleton, and Brook Lopez.”
Garnett believes they’ll work out on the court. He says that this’ll work out in favor of Giannis, especially when he goes through the phases of good stretch and bad stretch.
Lillard’s Offense over Jrue Holiday’s Defense
Garnett made it a point to mention how everyone talked about former Bucks player Jrue Holiday and how great his defense was, and how it can compare to Lillard’s offense.
“I would take Dame’s offense over Jrue Holiday’s defense. Just because I have Giannis, and I have Brook Lopez. Those are two high IQ basketball players, more mature on defense…”
He goes onto talk about how Brook Lopez is a good talker on the court.
“Brook Lopez is a good talker. Meaning he’s calling out picks, he’s talking, on the side, he’s one of the best at that.”
While we haven’t really been able to see Lillard shine in defense like Bucks fans are used to seeing Jrue Holiday, Garnett says he’s excited to see the ‘defensive temperature’ that the Bucks bring, talks about how Dame could be on another level.
“We haven’t seen Dame be some great defender and get through screens. I think he’s going to – It’s another level. And you know what you do? You sacrifice a little bit of your own game so that other players can be – Giannis going to sacrifice a little so Dame – It’s going to be like a pot of sacrifices. All in for the team.”
