The Green Bay Packers will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles during Wild Card weekend. They will play on Sunday at 4:30pm in Philadelphia.
This will be a rematch of week one’s opening game in Brazil, which the Eagles won 34-29.
Former Philadelphia quarterback Ron Jaworski had something to say about the Eagles-Packers playoff matchup.
“The Eagles are the better team, I just see no way the Packers beat the Eagles.”
Is He Correct?
Yes, the Eagles are a better football team than the Packers this season. They have the top ranked defense and have an explosive offense that can erupt at any time.
This doesn’t mean that Philadelphia is invincible though. Green Bay played them close in week one and showed that their passing attack works against the Eagles zone coverage.
If Jordan Love can take advantage of the coverage and perform well, Green Bay has a chance. He will be facing a strong secondary though, and there has been times where he’s struggled against top teams.
Ron Jaworski had some words for the star Packers quarterback as well.
“I think Jordan Love is overrated. He is a solid QB, but he is overrated.”
Is He Correct?
Jordan Love had a stellar 2023 season, posting 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
This season has been different for Love. He has suffered multiple injuries to his knee, groin and now elbow.
He’s thrown for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Love’s year could have been better, but it was still good enough to send Green Bay to the postseason.
Is he overrated? Absolutely not. Jordan Love has proven that he belongs in this league, but he simply needs more help.
His receiving core has been solid, but they’ve been inconsistent as well. Jayden Reed has showed star potential at times but has also fallen short in moments. Unfortunately, Christian Watson tore his ACL in week eighteen and will be out for the playoffs.
Can They Make Noise This Postseason?
Green Bay is 0-5 against teams with 11 or more wins this season (Lions twice, Vikings twice and Eagles). This has shown that they simply aren’t ready yet to compete for a championship, at least not this season.
This team has a lot of potential to contend, and there is much room for growth. They are just a couple moves away from being a championship team.
