Just because Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are not going to the NFL playoffs it doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t be generous to his teammates during the holiday season.
In fact, the former Green Bay Packers superstar signal-caller gave his teammates, particularly Jets offensive linemen, who received the following gifts (via Rich Cimini of ESPN):
A custom Tom Ford suit (a tailor twice came to the facility to take measurements)
Tom Ford cologne
Tom Ford sunglasses
Louis Vuitton passport holder
Stereo speaker
Bottle of Devils River bourbon
Fans hit news of Aaron Rodgers’ gifts to New York Jets teammates
However, Rodgers’ reported generosity was not enough for a lot of fans online to appreciate his gesture, with many making all sorts of jokes and negative reactions.
“And an early trip to Cancun.”
“That means the offensive line will allow rodgers 30 seconds to throw the ball in the final two games!”
“Guy made $50 million and gave $20k of gifts? Wow! What a guy, not.”
“Russ giving out $10K Airbnb gift cards that could be used anywhere in the world somehow seems classier.”
Here are some more comments from a different post about Rodgers gifts:
“What a terrible teammate.”
“Gee, I didn’t know you could reward FAILURE!!!”
“Nothing will un-do the fact he hickjacked the entire personnel and then gave us 4 wins”
“Too bad he forgot to get them wins”
It’s hard to make Jets fans happy even with this type of seemingly harmless news, as there’s nothing more important to them as New York supporters than the team’s success, which obviously Rodgers and company are failing to give. On the season, the Jets are just 4-11 and already out of playoff contention. They have a tough assignment this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills on the road before their regular-season finale in Week 18 at home against the Miami Dolphins.
