Doug Pederson remains wary of the danger Aaron Rodgers brings ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Week 15 matchup against the New York Jets at the EverBank Stadium. According to the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach, their defense will focus on stopping the veteran quarterback and future Hall of Famer.
“Yeah, Aaron is still Aaron,” Pederson said on a team presser last Wednesday. “He can be highly efficient, and highly effective. Still can throw accurate footballs. Quick release. Probably can’t move as well as we once did, but he’s still an elite quarterback and that’s something you’ve got to prepare for.”
Aaron Rodgers is having a rollercoaster campaign, but he has shown glimpses of his old self. He is fresh from a solid individual outing in the New York Jets’ 32-26 Week 14 loss against the Miami Dolphins. The one-time Super Bowl champion completed 27 of his 39 passes for a season-high 339 yards and one touchdown.
“It’s a credit to him and what he does in the offseason, what he does during the regular season, how he takes care of himself because this game can beat you down physically,” Pederson added about Rodgers. “One of the things I’ve always appreciated about Aaron is the way he approaches to the game, and the fun that he has, the excitement you see around him and what he can create on the field.”
Aaron Rodgers could have a field day against the Jacksonville Jaguars
Aaron Rodgers looked particularly dangerous against the Miami Dolphins, and he could have his way again against the Jacksonville Jaguars, whose defense ranks 32nd in the league in average yards per game (396.1) and average yards per play (7.77).
Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson were Rodgers’ top targets in Week 14, as the two wideouts combined for 16 catches, 223 yards, and one touchdown on 21 targets.
The New York Jets and the Jacksonville Jaguars share identical 3-10 records, so both teams are merely fighting for pride this weekend.
