The Milwaukee Bucks’ last two games went down the wire and they have someone designated to hit clutch shots to pull them out of the wreckage – it’s no other than Damian Lillard.
Unfortunately for them, Lillard did not hit any. The team lost those two games – first against the Brooklyn Nets and then against the Portland Trailblazers – and missed the opportunity to climb in the Eastern Conference standings.
Lillard already admitted that he could have made better decisions on those situations, particularly the one against his former team.
However, he does not think his clutch performance is exactly the problem. It his lack of aggressiveness.
He knows that he was not signed by the Bucks to hit game winning shots alone.
No game comes down to one or last two possessions that’s why team sign and pay great players. Because in those situations, they expect us to be able to come through and make plays, make shots, have a type of impact at end games.
I just wasn’t good enough in those last possessions. It is that simple.
Lillard finished the Blazers game with 16 points, two rebounds, six assists, and four steals. However, his late-game decision is suspect as he decided to pass up what could have been the game winning shot to Bobby Portis in the corner, leading to a turnover.
Damian Lillard thinks the Bucks lack focus
Giannis Antetokounmpo recently ranted about how the Bucks are losing their individual pride.
For Lillard, it is the lack of discipline that’s troubling them, something he said showed in their last two games.
His team went down big in loss to the Nets but they were able to comeback, even almost stole the win.
However, the energy was not present against Portland.
Lillard preaches focus for them to go back to winning ways.
You get in the dog fight now they believe, you know, they having a way in moments and you end up in the game like this. So, I think that’s just kind of been a pattern that we’ve had in these games. It’s just, you know, not good enough discipline. Not good enough sustaining our focus.
