Corbin Burnes is currently the top free agent available in MLB. With starting pitchers commanding significant salaries this offseason, Burnes has gained even more leverage in negotiations. Beyond the financial aspect, two San Francisco Giants players, including his former Milwaukee Brewers teammate, are actively recruiting him to the Bay Area.
MLB starting pitchers are getting paid this off-season
Below is a list of some starting pitchers who have signed contracts this off-season. Among this group, Corbin Burnes is expected to sign the biggest deal.
- Blake Snell – five years, $182 million
- Max Fried – eight years, $218 million
- Nathan Eovaldi – three years, $75 million
- Yusei Kikuchi – three years, $62 million
- Shane Bieber – one year, $10 million with a $16 million player option for 2026
- Matthew Boyd – two years, up to $29 million
Willy Adames is openly recruiting his former Milwaukee Brewers teammate
During Willy Adames’ introductory press conference with the San Francisco Giants, he indicated that he would talk to Corbin Burnes about signing with the organization. He has delivered on that promise as he publicly said afterwards that his talk with Burnes “went great” and was “really positive.” Adames went on to hint that a talking point in their discussion was playing at Oracle Park.
“I think for a pitcher that should be really exciting playing in a ballpark like that, that you know you have a better chance of success. I think that’s a positive thought that you’ve got to have on the decision you’re making.”
Logan Webb is also recruiting Corbin Burnes to the San Francisco Giants
On the Chris Rose Rotation, Logan Web hinted that he has spoken with Corbin Burnes about his free agency. Webb went on to say that they would compliment each other perfectly in the rotation and that adding him would be unbelievable.
“If Corbin goes out there and throws, and I throw right after him the next day, it’s literally perfect. We’re the complete opposite pitchers, and I think that’s a good thing. You don’t want too many of the same guys. It’s almost like a perfect match. But I don’t make the decisions.”
“I know Corbin a little bit, I would be over the moon for sure if we got Corbin. I think that would be a huge addition, obviously. One of the best, if not the best pitcher in baseball. Adding a guy like that would be unbelievable.”
