Jordan Love is entrenched as the Packers’ starting quarterback, entering the 2025 season with MVP aspirations, but Green Bay’s quarterback room will look a little different this season.
After releasing both Sean Clifford and Taylor Elgersma on Tuesday, the Packers looked outside the organization for this year’s practice squad quarterback.
Packers Add QB Clayton Tune to the Practice Squad
The Packers on Wednesday signed quarterback Clayton Tune to the practice squad, likely ending the possibility that either Clifford or Elgersma return to Green Bay this season.
Tune, 26, is entering his third NFL season since being chosen by the Arizona Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2023 draft, where he spent the past two seasons backing up Kyler Murray.
Appearing in 13 games through his first two seasons, Tune has passed for 70 yards and two interceptions.
This preseason, though Tune made a strong case for making the Cardinals’ initial 53-man roster, while completing 30-of-49 passes (61.2 percent) for 186 yards with one touchdown and one interception before ultimately being released.
“If you look at my body of work, the effect that I have on my team that I play on, I elevate everyone around me,” Tune said after being drafted. “I’m a natural leader, people follow me and see the work that I’m putting in and the mindset that I have, and they want to follow suit.
“I have that no-flinch mentality when things get going tough. Those are some of the intangible things, and then being able to make every throw on the field, being able to make plays off-schedule and be more mobile than people realize.”
