The NBA has suspended Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo one game after an altercation during Thursday nights blowout loss to the Boston Celtics. The play happened with 1:25 left in the fourth quarter. Thanasis was fouled hard by Boston Celtics forward, Blake Griffin. Subsequently, Thanasis turned around and head butted Griffin. Thanasis was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul and ejected from the game.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo Suspension
Thanasis will serve his suspension tomorrow, April 2nd when the Milwaukee Bucks host the third place Philadelphia 76ers. This game has the makings of a potential playoff matchup at some point. With both teams still competing for playoff positioning, it’s likely that Thanasis wouldn’t have played unless there was another blowout.
Thanasis has been assessed seven total technical fouls during his NBA career. It’s likely most of these technical fouls came while he was actually on the bench. Thanasis is a emotional and vocal member of the Bucks’ bench and can get carried away at times. Regardless of your feelings towards whether Thanasis should be on the team or not, he’s here and a major hype man for his younger brother, Giannis.
Suspension turned into a positive?
There’s no doubt that both Milwaukee and Boston are two of the best teams in both conferences. These two teams have traded blows for the last couple seasons. The Thanasis ejection could very well be the extra motivation this Bucks squad needs if they meet the Celtics during the playoffs.
