The Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trailblazers will tip off at 7:00PM CST on Monday night. The Bucks (11-4) have lost two in a row and three of their last five games. Similarly, the Trailblazers (10-6) are coming off of a loss and have lost three of five. Unfortunately, the game will be missing one of the biggest stars in the NBA. Damian Lillard has a soleus strain and will miss 1-2 weeks. Fortunately, at least for Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokounmpo is healthy and he has had some incredible games against Portland over the course of his career. Here, I rank the top five.
5. February 5, 2022: Bucks 137, Trailblazers 108
This game was a blowout, and was not even as close as the 29-point differential. Bobby Portis started at center and scored 30 points. Greg Monroe was on the team at the time and had six points and six rebounds. Even Semi Ojeleye had seven points off the bench.
Of course, it was the Giannis Antetokounmpo show. Well, at least it was for 25 minutes. Due to the Bucks dominating the game, Giannis was taken out early. In those 25 minutes, he had 25 points on 7-12 shooting. This included going 4-7 from three and 11-15 from the free throw line. Giannis also had nine rebounds, six assists, and a block.
4. November 21, 2018: Bucks 143, Trailblazers 100
That’s right: the game on Monday night will fall on the four-year anniversary of an absolute beat down of the Trailblazers by the Bucks. Now, stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Giannis was one assist shy of a triple-double.
In just 30 minutes of play, Giannis had 33 points, 16 rebounds, nine assists, and three steals. Khris Middleton had 21-7-4 and Malcolm Brogdon and Eric Bledsoe added 16 points apiece. This game also saw Christian Wood score 11 points in 11 minutes off of the bench for the Bucks. Additionally, Thon Maker had 11 points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes. Jaylen Morris scored seven points and was a perfect 3-3 from the floor for Milwaukee.
3. October 21, 2017: Bucks 113, Trailblazers 110
This game was considerably closer than the first two on this list. This game featured Giannis and Middleton starting alongside Brogdon, Tony Snell, and Thon Maker. The Bucks bench consisted of Matthew Dellavedova, DeAndre Liggins, Greg Monroe, Jason Terry, John Henson, and Mirza Teletovic.
Giannis willed the Bucks to victory, putting up 44 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks. He went 17-23 from the floor (1-4 from three) and 9-13 from the line. Sharpshooting Tony Snell had 17 points on 7-8 shooting (3-4 from three). Middleton added 18-7-3.
2. April 2, 2021: Bucks 127, Trailblazers 109
This game was a classic Big Three masterpiece. Jrue Holiday had 22 points, 10 assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Khris Middleton stuffed the stat sheet with 20 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. Giannis, of course, led the way. The Greek Freak had 47 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists to go with one steal and three blocks. The 47 points he scored in this game is his highest total against Portland in his career.
Oh, and Giannis was 18-21 from the floor and 11-13 from the line. The only field goals he missed were three point shots. He was a perfect 18-18 from inside the arc.
1. November 21, 2019: Bucks 137, Trailblazers 129
Another anniversary for one of the most ridiculous triple-double stat sheets you will ever see. Giannis may not have shot well from the floor (9-27), but he still put up 24 points, 19 rebounds, and 15 assists. He also added three steals and a block.
The Bucks were led in scoring by Eric Bledsoe, who had 30 points. Pat Connaughton added 18 points off the bench against his former team.
