The Milwaukee Brewers 2025 season got off to a rough start. In New York, they were on the wrong side of a lot of history as the Yankees hit four first inning home runs against Nestor Cortes, mashed nine long balls in a single game, and recorded a MLB record 15 home runs over three games.
However, the Brew Crew have turned things around upon returning to American Family Field. They have won three games in a row, which includes two shutouts. Their most recent shutout, a 1-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds, put them on the right side of some history.
Finally, the 2025 Milwaukee Brewers were on the right side of some history

On Thursday night, the Brewers shutout the Reds 1-0. For Cincinnati, they had been on the losing side of that score before as it was the final of their two ball games prior. The loss against Milwaukee made it three straight 1-0 losses for the Reds, which tied a MLB record for the most consecutive 1-0 losses.
According to Sarah Langs, five other teams have lost three consecutive games with the score being 1-0. The 1960 Philadelphia Phillies were the last team to do this, with other occurrences happening in 1917, 1909 x2, and 1908.
Game highlights

In this Brewers vs Reds match up, Nestor Cortes had an important bounce back outing. He tossed six scoreless innings, gave up one hit, and struck out six. Elvis Peguero, Bryan Hudson, and Joel Payamps all worked one inning a piece, with Payamps recording the save. Payamps did get a boost defensively from Jackson Chourio in order to get the first out of the ninth inning.

At the plate, Sal Frelick provided the Brewers only offense with a RBI single in the fourth inning. Milwaukee was otherwise contained to just five hits.
Milwaukee and Cincinnati will play three more games at American Family Field. Friday’s game will start at 7:10 PM. No team has ever lost four consecutive games 1-0, so that will be one thing to keep in mind for the next ball game.
