The Milwaukee Brewers have high hopes in Jose Quintana who they signed for a one-year, $4.25 million contract early this month.

He is not injured but the team is still working on his conditioning.
He played in the team’s Spring Training assignment against the Athletics, efficiently throwing in three different innings.
Quintana threw for a total of 37 pitches and allowed just two home runs.
He had a great showing but he might not be ready yet for the opening day game against the New York Mets, his former team.

“Let’s see after (Thursday),” Quintana said after the game.
“We have it scheduled to get at least five ups, but let’s see how I feel after that next one.”
Jose Quintana’s signing is well-received by Milwaukee Brewers players, fans
Quintana used to terrorize Brewers players but now, he will be working with them.
Star plater Christian Yelich is one of the first to welcome the signing of the left-hand pitcher.

“He knows how to pitch; he moves the ball around and hits his spots, keeps you off-balance. He gives you a chance to win every time he goes out there. He’s pitched in every kind of game you can pitch in and it’s always good to have guys like that on your team and on your staff. We’re excited to have him.”
Quintana himself is excited to start a new journey. He recognized that this team is different from the ones he faced before but he admires the team for being a great organization.
“I really like this [Brewers] group. I saw how electric they are and how hungry they are,” he said.
