Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff made an appearance in the Cactus League but for him, it is much better feeling when he got to play in the majors again, even it was just spring training.

Woodruff threw for Brewers in their Sunday game against the Cleveland Guardians and he was emotional after the game. Even manager Pat Murphy took notice.
“I know it was just a Spring Training game but for me, it was 18 months and it was a big deal,” he said post-game.
The two-time All-Star is still on the road to a full recovery after undergoing a shoulder surgery in 2023. He missed the rest of the 2024 season to have it rehabbed and now, he is slowly getting his top form back.

Against the Guardians, Woodruff impressed by walking a batter. He also struck out the opponents’ first baseman Kyle Manzardo. He also reached 95 mph in his fastball.
Brandon Woodruff still not rushing his return
Woodruff’s pitching looking good is a good sign for the team that is still working to fill their rotation before the opening day.
Don’t expect him to join become like their rescuer as he insists that he will be methodical with his return.

“I can tell you right now, as much as I want it to, that has no effect on what I’m trying to accomplish,” Woodruff said. “Is it worth getting in a [Spring Training] game a month ago when games started? I would probably be in a worse position now.
“I’ve taken the time. I’ve taken the right steps to get to this point. I’ve still got a lot more hurdles to go. Now I have to build volume and innings. Today was step one.”
