Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff reached an important milestone on Friday, February 14 as he threw to live hitters for the first time since having shoulder surgery in October of 2023. In total he threw 25 pitches to William Contreras and Jake Bauers. Afterwards his radar numbers from that session were revealed.
Brandon Woodruff intentionally did not have a radar gun involved in his rehab

In January, Woodruff provided an update as to where he was at in the rehab process. One interesting thing that he shared was that he did not have a radar gun present during his throwing sessions. This was done intentionally.
Radar numbers from Brandon Woodruff’s first session against live hitters

According to Adam McCalvy at MLB.com, Woodruff touched 92 MPH during his session against live hitters. He also threw his full arsenal of pitches. Since 2018, Woodruff’s fastball has averaged 95-96 MPH each season.
It’s clear he has some work to do yet in getting his velocity back, but with 5.5 weeks to go before Opening Day he still has plenty of time to safely ramp up, progress, and get to a comfortable spot.
