Bob Uecker passed away on Thursday at the age of 90. The one of a kind human, former baseball player, legendary broadcaster, and TV/movie star had been dealing with small cell lung cancer since early 2023. Following his death, numerous stories have emerged but none of them may be better than Jonathan Lucroy revealing that his voicemail is recorded by Uecker himself and its contents are everything you’d expect.
Jonathan Lucroy had Bob Uecker record his voicemail
On MLB Network Radio, Jonathan Lucroy joined a phone call to talk about Bob Uecker. He got talking about how his voicemail was recorded by Uecker, so that when people call him they hear his voice. Lucroy said this idea was inspired by a teammate at the time, reliever Kameron Lowe, who did the same thing. To this day, at least a decade later, Uecker’s voice is till Lucroy’s voicemail.

On air, Lucroy was able to play his voicemail audio for all to hear. The contents read, “Lucroy swings and sends a pop fly foul behind home plate. This one’s gonna get in the lower box seats and wow look at that it hit his wife Sarah right on top of the head and she is knocked out! How about that! And he’s out too. If you want a return call, leave your name and number. If you don’t, leave your zip code.”
