Allen Lazard and the Packers’ season came to an abrupt finish when they lost to the Lions on Sunday Night Football in week 18.
Going into the off-season the Packers will have many questions to answer, none bigger than who their quarterback will be. Wide receiver Allen Lazard was asked whether or not he thought Aaron Rodgers would be back next season, and his answer ended up providing some clarity on his own future.
“I don’t know where I’m going to be at. I can’t worry about someone else,” Lazard said, standing at his locker. “Going into the game, I kind of had a realization that my first game here, and potentially my last game, which it is, was going to be against the Lions at home.”

Lazard went on to express his appreciation for being in Green Bay for the last four years and how much he has grown. However, he left no doubt about his future in Green Bay.
Why is Allen Lazard Not Coming Back?
Plain and simple, this decision was made before the season even started. Lazard was a restricted free agent and signed his tender. He wanted a long-term contract which the Packers did not give him. He played on his tender while the Packers drafted three young wide receivers. Lazard will now be an unrestricted free agent and can sign with a team where he can get paid and have a bigger role next season. Meanwhile, the Packers will move forward with a young core at the position highlighted by Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.
Allen Lazard finishes his Packers’ career with 169 receptions, 2,236 yards and 20 touchdowns. Lazard became a starter in the 2020 season and made a huge impact as a blocker. The Packers will be tasked to replace his production in the running game this offseason.

It will be disappointing to see Lazard leave, but I understand he’s a little bitter about the contract extension. I just hope he doesn’t go to a rival team. Maybe he re-teams with Adam’s in LV??? Good luck man, I enjoyed watching u with GB!!!
Lazard sucks. Lazy and unmotivsted
I wish Lazard would go to 49ers as he & Brock Purdy played for Iowa State !!!
He was never worthy of a long-term contract. It doesn’t bode well for receivers when your biggest attribute is your blocking ability. He should have bulked up and become a tight end.
That young core better learn to catch the ball…primarily Doubs!
Eh, whatever .. He cried he’s #1 recover but got outplayed by two rookies, and when he got the opportunities he didn’t play like a #1 receiver his best and only asset was a receiver that blocks good.
Lazard is a great role player with good hands . He does what is asked of him. The Packers had some key drop passes that hurt them . Lazard should have had more targets. Momentum is a big thing in these must win games. And you have to rely on your veterans to step up. Either you show up and be a difference maker or you give someone else a shot.
