The New York Jets may decide to cut ties with Aaron Rodgers this summer, as the two parties seemingly have a strained relationship and because things have not worked out between them. If Aaron Rodgers leaves the Big Apple, there could still be teams in the market to sign the one-time Super Bowl winner.
John Breech of CBS Sports listed the Cleveland Browns as a potential destination for Aaron Rodgers, given the team’s complicated quarterback situation, with Deshaun Watson suffering a major setback on his Achilles injury.
“At this point, it’s almost a certainty that Rodgers won’t be returning to New York. If the Jets decide to cut him, the Browns would be an interesting landing spot. For one, after spending his career in both Green Bay and New York, he’s already used to playing in cold weather, so the frigid late-season temperatures won’t bother him,” Breech wrote in his column.
“Also, if Rodgers is willing to be a game-manager, the Browns have a good defense and solid enough weapons on offense that he could at least make them competitive. With his career winding down, Rodgers would likely be motivated to win,” he concluded.
Aaron Rodgers bares plans when he retires from the NFL for good
In a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers was asked whether he’d consider following Tom Brady’s footsteps to be a sports broadcaster when he hangs up his cleats for good. The four-time NFL MVP poured cold water on the idea.
“The answer is no. After this thing is done, you’re not going to see me, you’ll see me maybe in Tahoe, you’ll see me if I ever go back to Green Bay in four or five years, and then that’s about it,” Rodgers stated.
Aaron Rodgers still has a year left on his contract with the New York Jets, but there’s no guaranteed money left on his deal.
