The Green Bay Packers will have many decisions to make after the 2024 season ends. One of those decisions will be what to do with cornerback Jaire Alexander. He missed 10 games last season because of injury and has not played since 11/17 against the Chicago Bears.
It will be interesting to see if Alexander will suit up this Monday night against the New Orleans Saints or not. Jaire Alexander was a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Green Bay Packers Fan Asks Matt Schneidman Of The Athletic If the Packers Will Move On From Jaire Alexander In the Offseason
On Thursday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic released an article about different questions that the Packers fanbase asked him. One of the questions a fan asked was:
“Will he be gone after this season?“
There are a lot of other Green Bay fans who are wondering the same thing if Alexander will be back after the 2024 NFL season. Schneidman said:
“That may be a question the front office asks itself considering how much it’s paying him relative to how little he’s been available the last couple of seasons. I’ve been on the record saying you keep him. The Packers aren’t great behind Alexander at cornerback and he’s still elite when healthy. This might be a case where the risk of letting him go via release or trade isn’t worth the reward of freeing up more than $7 million in cap space.”
On the field this season, he has recorded 16 tackles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, one touchdown, and seven pass deflections. When on the field, Jaire Alexander is the best cornerback on the roster by a mile.
Potential Overhaul At the Position In 2025
There is a good chance that the cornerback position in 2025 for the Green Bay Packers is going to have an overhaul. Eric Stokes is not going to be re-signed for Green Bay. If Alexander were to be released or traded to another team, Green Bay would have to find at least two cornerbacks next year either through the NFL Draft, free agency, or trades.
A lot will come up during the offseason. However, the focus for now is that the Packers are 10-4 this season and looking to lock up a playoff spot on Monday night against the New Orleans Saints.
