The Marquette Golden Eagles are the ninth-ranked team in the country and have an 18-3 overall record and a 9-1 record in Big East Conference play this season. They are tied for first place in the conference with the St. John’s Red Storm.
One of the reasons why Marquette is one of the best teams in the country this season is because of guard Kam Jones. He has been the leader of this team this season under head coach Shaka Smart. Jones has emerged into that role because Tyler Kolek graduated last year and was drafted into the NBA.
Latest Bleacher Report 2025 NBA Mock Draft Has Marquette Golden Golden Eagles Guard Kam Jones Being Drafted By the Boston Celtics
Jonathan Wasserman of bleacherreport.com created his latest two-round NBA mock draft in 2025. With the Boston Celtics drafting 28th overall, he has the franchise selecting Jones from Marquette. Wasserman compared Kam Jones to Malik Monk. Jonathan Wasserman said:
“A proven shotmaker and consistently one of the more efficient rim-finishing guards in college hoops, Kam Jones has now taken off this year as a playmaker (6.4 assists).
Being 23 years old by draft night historically impacts draft stock, but it’s getting tough to poke holes in a 6’5″ combo with 286 career threes, a functional floater game, three consecutive seasons above 65.0 percent around the basket and gradually improving playmaking skills.”
Kam Jones so far this season has averaged 18.9 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 6.3 APG, and shooting 49.5% from the field. He is 6’5″ and weighs 200 lbs. Jones after this season will probably enter the NBA Draft and the Boston Celtics would be a good landing spot for him. They have a 33-15 record so far this season and are the number two seed in the Eastern Conference.
Late First-Round Pick
In many mock drafts, it appears as if Kam Jones will be drafted near the end of the first round. Other than the Boston Celtics, some other teams that could draft near the end of the first round this season are the Memphis Grizzlies, the Brooklyn Nets, the Phoenix Suns, and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Maybe there is a chance that Jones could be drafted higher into the first round. At this point, it would be a surprise if he slipped into the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.
