The Green Bay Packers are claiming a Super Bowl-winning safety off of waivers, the team announced Thursday afternoon. The Packers have many questions about the position this offseason after their former team captain, Adrian Amos, signed with the New York Jets this summer.
Head coach Matt LaFleur said earlier this month the Packers would have a fluid situation for most of the season at the safety spot that will play alongside Darnell Savage. The Packers chose to release 2023 newcomer Tarvarius Moore after he sustained a minor knee injury this month.

Per the statement, Anderson was initially signed by the Kansas Chiefs as a UDFA in 2021.
“Anderson (6-2, 206), a first-year player out of BYU, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2021 by the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent time on the Chiefs’ practice squad in 2021-22, appearing in seven games and posting a tackle on special teams during the regular season.
Anderson also played in three postseason contests for Kansas City and recorded a special teams tackle. This past offseason, he signed with the Buffalo Bills back in February. Anderson will wear No. 39 for the Packers.”

Anderson is credited with winning Super Bowl LVII as a member of the Chiefs in February. Anderson will have a chance to come to Green Bay and earn playing time on special teams. He could work his way onto the field as a safety as the team continues to figure out their future at secondary.
