Early this morning, new quotes from a former Packers defensive stud were released, and he didn’t take it easy on the team. While Za’Darius Smith no longer plays for the Packers, he will be around familiar faces come Sunday.
The former Packers player spoke to Tyler Dunne of Go Long recently and said some pretty vulgar things towards the Packers and their front office. Smith’s final year in Green Bay didn’t go how everyone wanted. Smith missed practically all of 2021 with a back injury that required invasive surgery. Smith was hopeful to return to the team, and even Tweeted about rejoining the roster. However, coach Matt LaFleur wanted him to work slowly back onto the field.
Za’Darius Smith was eventually cut by the Packers in March, and it doesn’t appear to have been mutual.
It is safe to say Za’Darius isn’t a Packers Fan
When Smith was asked about how he felt after being cut he stated “It felt like s— went south” when he went for a second medical opinion. He also stated “That’s why I’m here now. So I can play them twice a year.” when referring to the Packers.
Smith went on to talk about the situation that occurred on the team after his injury. He claims nobody cared about his injury after he got surgery and that the focus of the team was elsewhere. Regardless, his “revenge” season concept doesn’t fall in line with the contract he agreed to with the Ravens, but later backed out.
Regardless, Smith should be a force for the Vikings much like he was for the Packers. He recorded 26 sacks in two seasons, as well as 107 combined tackles. The 29-year old hopes to crush the Packers this season, but he will have to get past the offensive line first.
