Za’Darius Smith Once Again Provokes Week One Drama Vs. Packers

If you thought the Packers-Vikings rivalry was intense before, this off-season just added a new layer.  Former Packers’ EDGE rusher Za’Darius Smith signed a 3 year, 42 million dollar deal with Minnesota back in March. His way of announcing it?  Quoting the legendary Purple People Eater defense of the 1960s and 1970s: “Meet At The Quarterback.”  There have been a few banters back and forth between Smith and social media regarding week one vs the Packers.  Today he incited yet another one.

September 11th, 2022 is of course week one and the home opener for the Vikings.  The Packers will come to town and try to spoil their fun.   The Green Bay Packers brought back several key members of their team from last season. Za’Darius Smith was not one of them, as he was cut to create salary cap space.

Originally, Smith had reportedly come to an agreement to return to the Baltimore Ravens, the only other team he has played for in the NFL. However, he backed out of that agreement and chose to sign with Minnesota.  Could there be any “revenge” on his mind during that signing?  Possibly.  However we know for sure that Za’Darius is clearly chomping at the bit to bet back at the Packers for cutting him.  We will see you week 1 Z.
