On March 22nd the Minnesota Vikings signed former Packers Edge Rusher Za’Darius Smith to a three-year, $42 Million Dollar deal. This came after Smith missed nearly the entire 2021 season with Green Bay due to injury. Za’Darius Smith is already missing practice at Minnesota OTAs, according to reports released today.
Official Report of Za’Darius Smith’s Injury:
Vikings WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette was on a scooter at today's practice due to a "lower leg" injury, but Kevin O'Connell expects him to be ready for training camp in seven weeks.
Za'Darius Smith wasn't at practice for precautionary reasons regarding an injury, O'Connell said.

Even though he’s on the Vikings, no one wishes injury on any player. However, this was the risk that any team was taking with signing Smith. “Precautionary” is often used in the NFL. The Packers used that term for David Bakhtiari all season last year. We will see how long this precautionary thing lasts for Smith, or if it’s only throughout OTAs.
