Zach Davies was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers during the 2015-2019 seasons. Prior to the start of the 2020 season, he was traded to the Padres along with outfielder Trent Grisham. The Padres later used Davies in a trade of their own in order to acquire Yu Darvish from the Cubs.
Davies pitched for the Cubs in 2021 and elected free agency at seasons end. He ended up signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks and pitched for them during the 2022 season. In total he made 27 starts for the snakes and pitched to a 4.09 ERA.
Today, Jon Heyman reported that Zach Davies will be returning to the Diamondbacks for the 2023 season.
Davies deal is worth $5MM and includes incentives. In total, he can make an additional $3MM.

The Diamondbacks now have four solid starting pitchers consisting of Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Madison Bumgarner, and Zach Davies. Davies has excelled at generating weak contact and ground balls throughout his career, so it will be interesting to see how he performs in 2023 with the limitations in defensive shifting.
