The 2023 World Baseball Classic will begin in a few months and rosters are still continuing to take shape. Recently announced to Team Canada was Brewers infielder Abraham Toro. He could have chose to represent Canda or Venezuela, but was born and raised in the Montreal area.

Toro was acquired by the Brewers earlier this off-season as a part of the trade that sent Kolten Wong to the Mariners. Jesse Winker also came to Milwaukee as a part of that deal. As a member of the Brewers, Toro is expected to compete for time at both second and third base.
Are there currently any other Brewer players representing Team Canada at this year’s World Baseball Classic?
As mentioned above, rosters are still taking shape. In December, former Brewers closer John Axford had a heartfelt post indicating that he desired to pitch for Team Canada. Axford is on the mend from Tommy John surgery in which he injured his elbow when he last pitched for the Brewers in 2021.
Dylan O’Rae, the Brewers third round pick in the 2022 MLB draft, was born in Canada. He is just 18 years old and made his debut in the Arizona Complex League. Earlier this fall he represented Team Canada as a player on the Junior National team.
