The Milwaukee Bucks are winners of 12 straight games as the NBA’s All-Star Weekend comes upon the league. Their latest win, a 112-100 victory over the Chicago Bulls, came at a cost, however. Eastern Conference All-Star captain Giannis Antetokounmpo left with a sprained right wrist. Earlier in the game, he had passed Paul Pressey to become the Bucks’ all-time assist leader. He did not return to the game.

Yesterday on ESPN, NBA insider Adrian “Woj” Wojnarowski discussed Giannis’ injury and how it would affect his plans for the NBA All-Star festivities. Giannis coached in last night’s celebrity game and is slated to partake in the Skills Challenge tonight. Of course, he was also voted as a starter in the All-Star game itself.
Today on ESPN, @wojespn provided an update on Giannis👇
“He’s in some pain. He wants to play in the All-Star Game. He’s going to get it looked at again today. His intention is to try to find a way to play.” pic.twitter.com/kdF4mPq0ZF

“He’s in some pain. This was a painful injury. He wants to play in that All-Star game on Sunday. It is important to him as a captain and as someone who takes the responsibility really seriously. He’s going to get it looked at again today [Friday] I’m told. You know, obviously got another 24 hours through Saturday and then the game on Sunday,
“But his intention is to try to find a way to play. The one thing you know about Giannis Antetokounmpo is that he has an amazing ability to come back quicker from injuries than almost anybody else. You see it during the season during routine times. Of course, you remember that during Finals, coming out of the Atlanta series, you thought he’d be out 4-6 weeks. He went onto win MVP of the Finals.”
Giannis appeared on the sidelines, as planned, as a coach for Team Dwayne in the NBA Celebrity Game last night. His brothers were also coaches. Notably, Giannis did NOT have his wrist in any kind of brace.
Whether or not he competes in the Skills Challenge tonight will go a long way in determining whether or not he will play in the actual All-Star Game.
