The Wisconsin Badgers wrestling team took on the Nebraska Corn Huskers in a dual meet. The number five school in the country brought the intensity against the Badgers and secured a 24-11 win. The Badgers secured wins at 133, 165, and 285 pounds, but unfortunately came up short against an extremely tough opponent.
Wisconsin Wrestling Crushed in Away Dual Meet
The Wisconsin Badgers trip to Nebraska certainly did not go as planned. Austin Gomez did not wrestle following his injury in the meet against Northwestern. Aidan Medora filled in for Gomez and subsequently lost to Dayne Morton. The Badgers walked away with three wins from Taylor LaMont, Dean Hamiti, and Trent Hillger. LaMont took on former Badger wrestling starter Kyle Burwick and won via decision.
Dean Hamiti kept his spectacular season afloat with another beautiful tech fall win, 17-2. Hamiti intelligently landed his shots and has continued to show why he is a top wrestler at 165 pounds. Hamiti will still have to take on Andrew Sparks and Austin Yant to finish off the regular season before entering the Big Ten tournament.

Top-ranked Peyton Robb, Mikey Labriola, and Lenny Pinto all scored major decisions against the Badgers. Wisconsin was outscored by a large margin in each wrestling match. The difficult all night involved keeping the score close, but the team struggled to do so against one of the stronger teams they will face. The team struggled to hold on as well and lost points in key spots.
Wisconsin will get a much need rest this week after facing Purdue, Iowa, Northwestern, and Nebraska the last two weeks. The Badgers take on Minnesota in Madison on February 11th to close out the conference dual season. The regular season will end February 18th at home against Northern Iowa, where there will also be celebrations for the seniors.
