The Wisconsin Badgers began their 2022 campaign against the Illinois State Redbirds. While the Badgers have always and still rely on a power rushing attack, second year starting RB Braelon Allen is looking to have another 1,000+ yard rushing season.
The first game is always the tester to see what the team will look like. On offense, defense, and special teams as a whole. On Saturday, many players got a chance to see the field in a 38-0 win over the Redbirds. There may not have been many big time plays, but the Badgers did run away from Illinois State.
Braelon Allen certainly got the crowd at Camp Randall Stadium amped up after an electric 96 yard touchdown run in the 2nd quarter.

The 96-yard touchdown set a new record by Braelon Allen. On Saturday, it surpassed the previous record, a 93 yard run by James White in 2013. The former Wisconsin Badger RB is now retired.
Braelon Allen
In his first season at Wisconsin, Allen had 186 carries for 1,268 yards and 12 touchdowns. In 2021, the Wisconsin Badgers were ranked 18th overall in the country with 210.8 rush yards per game.
Braelon Allen could be a Heisman Trophy candidate if he continues to break long runs, and set new records as the season goes on. The second year running back will definitely improve each week, and has time to get better. Wisconsin Football has two more non-conference opponents before heading into BIG conference play on September 24th.
Not only does “Jump Around” get the crowd moving at Camp Randall Stadium, but record setting runs do as well The Wisconsin Badgers will play Washington State in Week 2 at 3:30 pm ET on Fox.
