Wisconsin men’s basketball moves up three spots Monday in the AP Top 25 Poll, listed at No. 10 in the nation. The Badgers also found themselves moving up in the rankings after two road wins last week against Minnesota and Rutgers.
Other Big Ten Conference teams listed in this week’s updated AP Poll included No. 8 Purdue, No. 20 Illinois, No. 23 Ohio State and No. 24 Iowa.
The Badgers is projected as a three seed in ESPN college basketball analyst Joe Lunardi’s latest mock bracket released Monday. Texas Tech, Villanova and Tennessee are other teams that are projected as three seeds, however, Lunardi’s latest tweet didn’t reveal which team the Badgers would play against, but the full bracketology will be updated this week.
In addition, the Big Ten is projected to have nine teams in the tournament as of now. Purdue (No. 2 seed), Wisconsin (No. 3 seed), Illinois (No. 4 seed), Ohio State (No. 6 seed), Iowa (No. 6 seed), Michigan State (No. 7 seed), Michigan (No. 10 seed), Rutgers (No. 10 seed) and Indiana (No. 12 seed). The Big 10 leads the nation in conference bids with nine total, however, next closest conference is the Big East with seven total bids.
Wisconsin basketball has a chance to up its bracket stock with two games this week, first off, by playing at home against No 8 Purdue. After that, the Badgers finish the season playing at home versus Nebraska.
Above all, The Badgers will play against Purdue, March 1 at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
